October wrap up

I apologize this is going to be a lengthy post. October was incredibly busy for us and I just want to get it all into one. The kids had a fall break from school the first few days of October so we decided to stay in California (after my cruise) and hang out with my family. We decided to take the kids to Caloma with their cousins to pan for gold and just hang out for the day. It was perfect weather and the kids had a blast. They LOVED panning for gold. I don't have a lot of pictures from this day because my camera battery died. Here are just a couple....The kids waisted no time hunting for Lizards Andrew caught one almost immediatley

Owen, Ella, Cali, Andrew and Sean (cousins)

The next day
I took the kids over to the park in my parents Neighborhood
where they had a lot of fun

Andrew lost another tooth there. Can you believe the tooth fairy cam even though we were in California??

Later that day we went to visit my grandparents, my aunt Sue and some of my cousins. They have a pool at their house which was completely freezing for the kids but they are die hards when it comes to swimming

After pictures and swimming the girls headed over to a place called the fountains in Roseville (where I used to live). This place was built after Craig, Andrew and I moved to Seattle. It has amazing shopping and restaurants and is just a fun place to hang out. We ate at Boudines S.F. where they have yummy salads and sourdough bread bowls. I used to eat there in San Francisco on pier 39. I was thrilled to get to eat there. After dinner we got ice cream. It was a really fun day and it was great to see some my family.

When we got home it was back to the grind. Andre recently started scouts and I was lucky enough to be assigned one of his den mothers. We have a lot of fun together. This was our October pack meeting where we did the space derby. The boys had a blast making rockets and racing them. Craig helped Andrew carve and paint and my assignment was to make treats. I made 4 dozen star shaped sugar cookies with frosting for this pack mtg.. It took forever but they turned out really cute. Unfortunately Andrews got last place.

October was filled with treat making. This is the gingerbread haunted house the kids talked me into. I always end up buying something like this when they come to the store with me.

We also made Halloween sugar cookies. It's always a huge mess but the kids have the best time doing it.

Of course we had tons of football in October. Every Friday two of the parents are in charge of what they call psyche night. It is essentially a party thrown for the boys at the field to get them pumped up for their game the following day. We had psych night for the boys with the theme let's blow away the beetdiggers. I put together 19 handouts of bubbles, gum and blow pops. We also fed the boys dinner. They got Chili and rolls and home-made root beer. Luckily I had another mom and team dad to share the burden. It turned out so nice though

One of our Fall traditions is to go up the canyon and take pictures with the vibrant fall colors. This year we were so busy we pretty much missed the peak of the colors. We went up anyway and tried to get some good shots.

We brought soup and bread for lunch and walked around the lake (silver Lake by Brighton ski resort). There was a lot of snow and ice on the trail and it was Freezing. We never mad it up during the summer so we thought we would one last time before true winter comes.

Of course we also had to carve pumpkins. Usually we go to a cute pumpkin patch but this year we were too busy. So we went to the store to get them this year. Of course Andrew had football practice so we got a late start on the pumpkins

Andrew chose a very difficult pumpkin to do. It took him 2 hours but he did it and might I say his pumpkin was the best

Halloween:
This year Andrew was Snake eyes from G.I. Joe and Cali was Dorothy from wizard of Oz. They looked so cute in their costumes. Cali make the perfect Dorothy and Andrew makes a scary Snake Eyes. We went over to my sister in laws for dinner and trick or treating. It was so fun. After every single house Cali would come running down the driveway screaming "MOM. They gave me more Candy!" It was so funny and adorable. She was just amazed to knock on doors and ask fro candy. She would often run ahead of the group and be first at the door.

Lindsey

Andrew, Jacob, Hailey, sydney and Cali.
Craig went to a Utah game Halloween night so he was not able to trick or treat with the kids. We missed him but atleast I got some excersize from all the candy I ate.
As you can see we had an extremely busy October. It was a great one though.
